Practice Experience
Mr. Milmed concentrates in environmental transactional law, representing principals and lenders in connection with the environmental aspects of domestic and international corporate and financial transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, public securities offerings, private equity investments,  bankruptcies and restructurings, real estate transactions and project finance transactions.  His practice involves virtually every type of industry and a wide range of non-US jurisdictions.

Mr. Milmed also represents industrial corporations in environmental liability and regulatory matters, including Superfund disputes.

Mr. Milmed has been named to the panel of mediators selected by the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York and serves as a mediator, by court appointment, in civil litigation.

Prior to joining White & Case, Mr. Milmed was an Assistant United States Attorney and Chief of the Environmental Protection Unit in the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York.  In that capacity, he supervised and coordinated all environmental enforcement litigation in the District, both civil and criminal, on behalf of the United States.  He also counseled various federal agencies with respect to their own compliance with federal, state and local environmental law, as well as with respect to their environmental regulatory functions. 

As an Assistant United States Attorney, Mr. Milmed was awarded a Special Commendation for Outstanding Service by the United States Department of Justice and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Bronze Medal.

Prior to his government service, Mr. Milmed served a judicial clerkship and was in private practice.
