Practice Experience
Peter Wilhelm is a member of the Firm's Commercial Litigation Group, and assists clients resolving a broad range of administrative and commercial disputes. Significant recent matters include:
  • Representing major domestic financial institutions in bankruptcy litigation in federal court;
  • Representing a state government in Native American land claim and related litigation in federal court;
  • Representing a putative class of kindergarten students in a special education action in the District of New Jersey; and
  • Assisting in advising a major foreign petroleum company regarding commercial litigation issues.

In addition to his participation in the J.T. o/b/o A.T. v. Dumont Public Schools matter in the District of New Jersey, Peter has an active pro bono practice, including representation of parents of students with disabilities in administrative proceedings against local school districts in New Jersey, and representing homosexual individuals in asylum applications. Peter is also active in the Firm's mentoring program for moot court and mock trial teams at Jamaica High School in Queens, New York. Peter was the recipient of a White & Case Pro Bono Award in 2010.

Prior to joining White & Case, Peter was a law clerk for Magistrate Judge Gabriel W. Gorenstein, and a summer intern for Judge Gerard E. Lynch, both in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York in Manhattan. Prior to law school, Peter was an elementary school teacher in the District of Columbia Public Schools.
