Practice Experience
Vilen is an associate in the Almaty office and focuses on capital markets and structured and banking finance as well as on subsurface use law, including M&A transactions involving the transfer of subsurface use assets.
Vilen has legal work experience (in particular litigation) in Uzbekistan, another Central Asian jurisdiction, in which Vilen is a qualified lawyer/advocate.

2008 US$ 230 million Note private placement under US$5 billion Medium Term Note Programme by Kazkommertsbank (legal advisers as to Kazakhstan law to the Lead Manager);
2008 JSC Astana-Finance’s Global Medium Term Note Programme Update (legal advisers as to Kazakhstan law to the Dealer) (postponed due to unfavorable market conditions);

M&A:
Acquisition by a state oil and gas holding of a major Kazakhstan oil and gas company (legal advisors as to Kazakhstan laws to bank syndicate);
Acquisition (indirectly) by a top Kazakhstan mining company of three mining companies in Kazakhstan (legal advisors to the Acquirer on applicable Kazakhstan regulatory requirements);
Acquisition by a foreign bank of a Kazakhstan resident bank (legal advisers as to Kazakhstan law to the international finance groups acquiring Kazakhstan banks);
