Biography

Overview

Byron focuses on the acquisition, disposition and development of oil and gas assets and projects in the upstream and midstream sectors, where he has represented major and independent oil and gas companies, sovereigns, quasi-governmental agencies, and private equity sponsors and portfolio companies. He regularly advises clients on asset and equity deals, carried or promoted interests (including "drillcos"), joint venture/development arrangements, equity investments and financing/lending arrangements. He has extensive experience in North American resource plays and in conventional oil and gas projects, both domestically and internationally, including in the former Soviet Union, the Middle East and Southeast Asia.

Prior to joining White & Case, Byron was Head of the North American Oil and Gas A&D practice at another Houston-based law firm. He previously served as the main transactional attorney at Marathon Oil, where he led the company’s acquisitions and dispositions, and at various times was the company’s main commercial attorney for its Permian, Midcontinent, Colorado, Canadian and Gulf of Mexico assets, joint ventures and developments.

A native Houstonian, Byron has also been a resident in Moscow (the Russian Federation), Dubai, Abu Dhabi (the United Arab Emirates) and Singapore.
