Overview

Meredith Craven is an associate in the International Arbitration Practice Group in Houston. She represents international corporations, state entities and foreign sovereigns in commercial and investor-state arbitration proceedings in a wide range of industries, including energy, oil and gas, and other commodities. She has represented clients in international arbitrations brought under the UNCITRAL, ICSID, ICC, AAA/ICDR, and HKIAC rules. Meredith has also represented private and state-owned companies in enforcement and set-aside actions in New York courts.

Meredith is active in pro bono matters and is involved in the Firm's representation of impoverished debtors suing the City of Ferguson, Missouri.

Meredith currently serves as a Regional Representative for the International Chamber of Commerce Young Arbitrators Forum.

Post-M&A ICC arbitration
Meredith is representing a Brazilian manufacturer in an ICC arbitration under Brazilian law relating to an M&A transaction.

Importer/distributor – ICC arbitration
Meredith is representing an importer/distributor in an ICC arbitration under New York law arising from agreements for the distribution of cosmetic products in Brazil.

ICC construction arbitration
Meredith is representing the subsidiary of an oil & gas major in an arbitration arising from the construction of a natural gas liquefaction plant.

Offshore operator – BOT contract dispute
Meredith is advising an international oil company in dispute management relating to a contract to build, operate, and transfer an offshore facility in Latin America.

Sub-Saharan African sovereign – arbitration act
Meredith advised a sub-Saharan African sovereign in the drafting of a modern arbitration act.

Dispute resolution clause advice
Meredith regularly advises transactional clients including international oil companies and national oil companies on arbitration provisions for large-scale projects.

European sovereign – investment arbitration
Meredith represented an Eastern European sovereign in an UNCITRAL investment arbitration concerning real estate acquisitions.*

Spanish investor – investment arbitration
Meredith represented the claimant in a Spanish-language UNCITRAL investment arbitration concerning taxation of the claimant's investment in a tax-free zone.*

Brazilian airline – ICC expedited arbitration
Meredith represented a Brazilian airline in the first arbitration in the Americas brought under the ICC Expedited Rules.*
