Biography

Overview

Yang Xu is an associate in the Intellectual Property Practice Group. She advises clients in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries on a variety of intellectual property issues, including worldwide patent portfolio development, patent prosecution, due diligence, and litigation support.

Prior to joining the firm, Yang worked as a patent agent at an international law firm in Silicon Valley, where she worked with clients in the fields of pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, geochemical prospecting, and medical devices. She prepared and prosecuted patent applications in the United States and many foreign jurisdictions, helping clients obtain robust and enforceable patent protection around the world. Yang also performed analyses for advising clients in connection with transactions, such as mergers and acquisitions, licenses, and venture financings, and conducted analyses related to patentability, validity, non-infringement, freedom-to-operate and Orange Book listing matters.

Yang obtained her Ph.D. from the Scripps Research Institute (TSRI), La Jolla, and her graduate research focused on development of small molecule therapeutics and catalytic monoclonal antibodies useful for the treatment of various disorders.
