White & Case wins “Infrastructure Law Firm of the Year” and nine 2026 LatinFinance “Deals of the Year” awards

Global law firm White & Case LLP has been named "Infrastructure Law Firm of the Year: Latin America," at LatinFinance's 2026 Project & Infrastructure Finance Awards. This marks the fourth time the Firm has received this honor.

White & Case also won nine LatinFinance "Deals of the Year" awards and received one "Honorable Mention" award. The awards "recognize the most impressive transactions and institutions in a field critical to the region's economic progress."

The winning transactions are:

  • Bond of the Year: Sabesp US$1.5 billion A/B blue bond financing

    White & Case advised Inter-American Investment Corporation (IDB Invest), as lender, on Companhia de Saneamento Básico do Estado de São Paulo's (SABESP) financing agreement. The financing includes an A Loan of up to US$200 million from IDB Invest and a US$1.35 billion B Bond issuance. The Firm also advised Goldman Sachs & Co., Itaú BBA USA Securities and J.P. Morgan Securities, as initial purchasers, on the B Bond issuance. The transaction was the largest blue bond issuance to date.

  • Energy Storage Deal of the Year: Dune Plus BESS US$629 million project financing

    White & Case advised BNP Paribas, Crédit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank, MUFG Bank Limited, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation and Société Générale, as senior lenders, on the financing of Generadora Metropolitana's Dune Plus Project in Chile.

  • Infrastructure Deal of the Year: Brazil: Acelen's US$1.5 billion biorefinery project financing

    White & Case advised the development finance institutions and commercial lenders on the US$1.5 billion project financing of Acelen Energia Renovável's biorefinery and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) project in Brazil. Acelen Energia Renovável is a subsidiary of Acelen, which is owned by Mubadala Capital, the asset management subsidiary of Mubadala Investment Company, a global sovereign investor based in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The greenfield refinery aims to be Latin America's largest SAF and renewable diesel facility.

  • Infrastructure Deal of the Year: Caribbean: Manzanillo Gas & Power Plant US$1.067 billion financing

    White & Case advised a consortium of senior lenders on the US$1.067 billion financing of two 420 MW combined-cycle power plants and an LNG reception, storage and regasification facility near the Manzanillo Port in the Dominican Republic.

    The transaction, the country's largest private-sector investment in energy infrastructure, involved approximately US$75 million in financing from IDB Invest, approximately US$100 million from the Corporacion Andina de Fomento and an approximately US$886 million syndicated loan arranged by Citibank and JPMorgan.

  • Loan of the Year: Rincon US$1.175 billion greenfield lithium project financing

    White & Case advised Rincon Mining Pty Limited, through its Argentine branch, as borrower, and its parent company Rio Tinto Minerals Limited, as shareholder, on a US$1.175 billion project financing for a lithium brine development project in Salta, Argentina's "Lithium Triangle." The financing was the first international structured financing for one of Argentina's largest critical minerals mining projects approved under the RIGI investment-promotion framework.

  • Mining Deal of the Year: Serra Verde's US$565 million rare earth mine financing

    White & Case advised Serra Verde Group, a large-scale producer of rare earth elements, on closing a US$565 million financing provided by the US International Development Finance Corporation. The proceeds will be used to refinance existing facilities and the expansion and optimization of Serra Verde's mine in Goiás, Brazil.

  • Port Deal of the Year: Embraport financing

    White & Case advised the joint lead arrangers and lenders on the closing of a US$525 million term loan facility in connection with the DP World Embraport Santos port terminal project. The facility was made available to DP World Embraport Finance B.V., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Embraport - Empresa Brasileira de Terminais Portuários S.A. (Embraport), the operator of a private use port terminal in Santos, São Paulo, Brazil—one of Latin America's most strategically significant port hubs.

  • Renewable Energy Deal of the Year: Glenfarne's US$1 billion acquisition financing for Gac RS Chile II SpA portfolio

    White & Case advised Glenfarne Group on a US$1.04 billion financing that substantially financed its acquisition of four Chilean energy projects from METLEN Energy & Metals. The Firm also advised Glenfarne on related construction, operation and supply contracts.

  • Power Deal of the Year: Casa dos Ventos US$1.077 billion US private placement "power-to-data" transaction

    White & Case advised TotalEnergies, as guarantor, and Casa dos Ventos on two US private placement transactions, totaling approximately US$1.1 billion in aggregate principal amount of senior guaranteed notes issued by wholly owned Casa dos Ventos subsidiaries.

  • Honorable Mention: EIG's acquisition of equity interest (49.9%) in Transportadora de Gas del Perú S.A.

    White & Case advised EIG, a leading institutional investor in the global energy and infrastructure sectors, on its acquisition of a 49.87 percent equity ownership stake in Transportadora de Gas del Perú S.A. (TGP) from Canada Pension Plan Investment Board.
