Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised investment firm CVC Capital Partners on the signing of an investment commitment agreement with France's Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) related to the creation of a commercial subsidiary intended to support the financing of professional and amateur football clubs.
In return for its €1.5 billion minority investment in the commercial subsidiary's capital, CVC will hold a 13.0 percent stake, valuing the entire share capital of the commercial subsidiary at €11.5 billion.
The transaction is expected to be completed by the end of July 2022, after consultation with the LFP's employee representative bodies and the fulfillment of the usual conditions, including the approval of the relevant competition authorities.
The White & Case team in Paris which advised on the transaction was led by partner Saam Golshani and included associate Simon Martin-Gousset.
