Biography

Alejandro Santoyo is a partner in White & Case's Global Tax Practice, based in Mexico City. He has more than 30 years of experience advising leading Mexican and international clients on complex tax matters, with a particular focus on the tax structuring of mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance transactions, and private equity investments.

A leading tax advisor in the Latin American market, Alejandro regularly advises on the structuring, investment, and divestment of private equity funds, as well as on cross-border transactions involving sophisticated tax considerations. He also has significant experience advising on initial public offerings across a variety of asset classes globally and on wealth planning matters for major shareholders, family offices, and prominent Mexican families.

Alejandro is widely recognized for his technical excellence and has advised on some of the most complex and innovative transactions undertaken in Mexico. His experience includes representing Apollo Global Management in the debtor-in-possession financing for Aeroméxico; BlackRock in the acquisition of the Los Ramones gas pipeline; Innovasport in the acquisition of a multinational sporting goods retail chain in the Andean region; JPMorgan and Citibank on the Mexican sovereign issuance of US$12 billion Pre-Capitalized Securities to provide financial stability to Pemex and FIFA in establishing its operations in Mexico for the organization of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Alejandro is licensed to practice law in México and is also a certified public accountant, bringing a distinctive combination of legal and financial expertise to his practice. He is a graduate of Universidad del Valle de México and the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM).
