Biography

Alex is an associate in the Project Development and Finance practice in London. Alex acts for sponsors, lenders and governments on a range of financing and project development matters across the natural resources, energy, power and infrastructure sectors. Alex’s experience includes projects across a range of geographies, spanning Central Asia, South Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe and Latin America.

Alex joined the Firm as a trainee in 2016 and qualified in 2018, after having spent 6 months on secondment to the Firm's Stockholm office.

Alex has been recognised as a Leading Associate for Renewables by Legal 500 UK in 2025 and 2026.

Experience

Sponsors on landmark investment in Syria
Representation of an international consortium led by Qatar-based Urbacon Concessions Investment, alongside Kalyon G.I.S. Energy, Cengiz Energy, and Power International (USA) on a US$7 billion project which entailed the development and operation of eight new power generation stations in Syria, with a total capacity of 5 GW. This landmark transaction represents a major step in Syria’s efforts to rebuild its energy infrastructure and restore national power capacity after years of underinvestment and disruption.

Financing of major hydropower project in Malawi
Representation of the prospective project finance lenders on the 358 MW Mpatamanga hydropower project in Malawi, to be developed under a public-private partnership model with the Government of Malawi by a strategic sponsor consortium including EDF, BII, Norfund and TotalEnergies.
