Biography

Alexander Connors is an associate (not admitted in Japan) in our Corporate/M&A practice group, based in Tokyo. He regularly advises Japanese domestic and international investors on various corporate matters across a wide spectrum of sectors.

Prior to joining White & Case as an attorney, Alexander was a judicial intern for the Honorable Philip Bentley of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York. He completed law courses in Japanese at Keio Law School. He has written research papers on Japanese takeover case law, the waiver and transfer of attorney-client privilege in M&A transactions, the historical dearth of hostile takeovers in Japan, theories explaining takeover premiums, ESG and fiduciary duty, and proposed revisions to Japan’s Corporate Governance Code.

Toyota Tsusho Corporation (TSE: 8015), a leading Japanese trading company, on its landmark US$1.34 billion acquisition of Radius Recycling, Inc. (Nasdaq: RDUS), a North American metal recycling and steel manufacturing company. (2025)

Delta Electronics, Inc., a global leader in power management and a provider of Internet-of-Things-based smart green solutions, in its acquisition of power inductor and powder materials business and assets from Alps Alpine Co., Ltd. for approximately 71 million USD. (2024)

Yamauchi-No.10 Family Office, the family office of the Yamauchi family which started and built the global gaming giant Nintendo, in its unsolicited counterbid to acquire Toyo Construction (TSE: 1890) to privatise the Japanese construction company at an offer price of JPY 1,255 per share, or approximately 118 billion JPY in total, and related successful campaign to replace a majority of Toyo Construction's board of directors by shareholder proposal.
