Overview

Carlo Meert is the Brussels office Executive Partner and a partner in the Global Mergers & Acquisitions Practice.

Carlo advises private equity firms and corporates on cross-border transactions, mergers & acquisitions and corporate finance transactions, as well as advising on general corporate matters. He handles major strategic deals in a variety of industries including (renewable) energy, industrial and financial institutions.

Over the past years, Carlo has led several landmark cross-border transactions. He is actively leading relationships with several top-tier sponsors at both the European and global levels. Notably, he advised Cobepa on Easyfairs and on Smart SD, General Mills on Edgar & Cooper, BPCE on the acquisition of Bank Nagelmackers, Groupe UP on the acquisition of Offr, EQT on the sale of Karo Pharma, and facilitated Summit Partners' exit from CluePoints. Additionally, Carlo handles significant corporate governance matters.

Advised Cobepa on its investment in Easyfairs, one of the world's leading events companies, alongside its founder Eric Everard and Inflexion, on its acquisition of a majority stake in SmartSD, a distributor of solutions in camera security, access control, intrusion and fire detection, and on its acquisition of Ned Stevens from AVALT.

Advised Caisse d'Epargne Hauts de France, member of BPCE Group on its acquisition of Bank Nagelmackers, Belgium's oldest bank.

Advised General Mills on its acquisition of 4 Healthy Pets, the Belgium-based premium pet food company active throughout Europe, owner of the 'Edgar & Cooper' brand.

Advised Monizze SA on its acquisition of Offr HR, a Brussels-based startup that developed an innovative SaaS solution for payroll customization.

Advised private equity firm Summit Partners and other shareholders, including management, on the sale of and the reinvestment in Belgium headquartered CluePoints SA to EQT.

Advised EQT on its sale of portfolio company Karo Healthcare, one of Europe's leading consumer health platforms, to KKR.

Advised CVC on several projects, including its acquisition and exit-sale of Continental Foods, the European activities of the Campbell Soup Company.

Advised the consortium of lead investors including Hy24, Altor, GIC and Just Climate on their landmark approximately €1.5 billion investment in Stegra (previously H2 Green Steel), regarding the construction of the world's first large-scale renewable hydrogen-based steel plant in Boden, Sweden.

Advised Cosucra, a Belgian natural ingredients processor, on its capital increase subscribed by Sofiprotéol, Wallonie Entreprendre and the Société Fédérale de Participations et d'Investissement (SFPIM).
