Biography

Overview

Catherine Gu is an international law clerk in the Firm's Global Project Delivery and Finance practice based in New York (re-qualification in process). Catherine was admitted to practice in NSW, Australia in 2017 and was previously a Senior Associate at the Firm's Sydney office.

Catherine has extensive experience advising sponsors, lenders, borrowers and governments on the procurement and development of large-scale infrastructure and energy projects across the Americas and the Asia-Pacific region and is also experienced in advising on mergers and acquisitions in the renewable energy space. Catherine has experience across various industry sectors including renewable energy, telecommunications, transportation (road and rail), utilities, social infrastructure and defense.

She advises on all aspects of the project lifecycle, including the provision of strategic advice regarding procurement and contract documentation, the preparation and negotiation of project documentation as well as project delivery. Catherine has significant experience working as the lead associate on various deals both in respect of project development and mergers and acquisitions.

Invenergy in the preparation of template balance of plant and balance of system contracts for use on solar and wind farm projects in the United States of America.

Atlas in the preparation of a suite of template contracts for use on solar farm projects including balance of system and interconnection agreements.

Advising a multinational company of the preparation an EPC Contract for a solar and battery project in Georgia.

Neoen on the drafting and negotiation of the EPC, O&M and BOP contracts for the 200MW / 400MWh Western Downs Battery in Queensland, Australia.

Major developer on the acquisition of a battery energy storage project in the Australian Capital Territory, Australia.

Multinational company on its bid for the development and operation of a large scale energy from waste facility in Parkes, NSW, Australia.

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners on the preparation of project development documentation in relation to the 700MW Winterbourne wind farm and 602MW Chalumbin wind farm.

Maoneng on the preparation of tender and contract documentation in respect of the 480MWh Mornington battery energy storage system to be developed in Victoria, Australia including to prepare bespoke EPC and O&M contracts.

Bright Energy Investments on the refinancing of its renewable portfolio including by preparing diligence reports in relation to key project agreements (EPC, O&M, PPAs etc).

Thunderbird Operations on the debt financing for its Thunderbird Mineral Sand Projects in Western Australia. Catherine was the lead associate in the review of the key project documents and preparation of diligence reports.
