Biography
Catherine Gu is an Associate in the Firm's Project Delivery and Finance group based in New York and is dual qualified in New York and NSW, Australia. Catherine commenced her career in 2017 in Australia and previously worked in the Firm's Sydney office. Her practice focuses on the development, financing and acquisition of major infrastructure assets particularly in respect of renewable energy assets.
Catherine has extensive experience advising sponsors, lenders, borrowers and governments on the procurement and development of large-scale infrastructure and energy projects across the Americas and the Asia-Pacific region. Catherine is well versed in advising on project risks across a broad range of asset groups and industry sectors including renewable energy (solar, batteries and wind), water projects, power plants (including carbon capture), telecommunications, transportation (road, rail and bridges), airports and social infrastructure.
She advises on all aspects of the project lifecycle, including the provision of strategic advice regarding procurement and contract documentation, the preparation and negotiation of project documentation as well as project delivery. Catherine has significant experience working as the lead associate on various deals both in respect of project development and financing and mergers and acquisitions.

Representation of Avantus on the project development and financing of the Aratina 1 200 MWac solar and 500 MWh photovoltaic and battery energy storage project in Kern County, California in respect of the negotiation and finalization of various EPC, O&M, Supply Agreements and other ancillary project documents.
Representation of NRG Energy, Inc. on US$560 million acquisition of 738 MW of natural gas generation in Texas.
Representation of JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A on the non-recourse senior secured financing of a $188.7 million term loan facility and a $13.8 million letter of credit facility provided to RNO Conrac, LLC in connection with the development, construction and operation of a consolidated rent-a-car facility at Reno-Tahoe International Airport, Nevada.
Representation of lenders for the project financing of a "Fiber-to-the-Premises" (FTTP) network being developed by Intrepid, a Brookfield portfolio company, involving credit facilities totalling US$290 million.
Representation of a major US developer in respect of the development of core project documents in connection with a carbon capture and sequestration project to be located in California.
Representation of I Squared Capital Advisors in connection with the equity funding, mezzanine funding and construction loan funding of a community solar power portfolio across the US.

Representation of Petroliam Nasional Berhad on its approximately US$590 million acquisition of a 29.4% interest in the 1044MW Hai Long offshore wind project in Taiwan from Northland Power.
Representation of a consortium of companies led by Tribe Infrastructure Groupe on their successful bid for the development and operation of a large-scale energy from waste facility in Parkes, NSW, Australia.
Representation of Neoen on the drafting and negotiation of the EPC, O&M and BOP contracts for the 200MW / 400MWh Western Downs Battery in Queensland, Australia.
Representation of Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners on the preparation of project development documentation in relation to the 700MW Winterbourne wind farm and 602MW Chalumbin wind farm.
Representation of Igneo Infrastructure Partners (Igneo) on its acquisition of a majority equity stake in the Lal Lal Wind Farms Partnership from Macquarie Green Investment Group and London fund manager InfraRed Capital Partners in a competitive process run by Macquarie Capital.
