Biography
Dominik Stier is a distinguished local partner in the Disputes Section for Litigation based in Frankfurt. Dominik represents national and multinational clients in complex litigation and liability matters across a variety of industries. His expertise and extensive trial experience span conflicts in the financial, private equity, real estate, automotive, manufacturing, and chemical sectors.
Dominik is renowned for his strategic acumen and dedication in advising and representing clients in high-stakes follow-on cartel damage cases, including those involving ethylene, occupant safety systems, power cables, and packaging. His expertise extends to competition law disputes as well as complex technology-related disputes, encompassing internet law, IT contracts, and data protection liability. Additionally, Dominik's practice spans a broad spectrum of corporate litigation, including shareholder disputes, M&A matters, and directors' and officers' liability, underscoring his versatility and depth of knowledge.
Dominik has gained in-depth knowledge of international jurisdiction, enforcement of foreign judgments, and applicable law through his involvement in numerous cross-border disputes. He has also spent several months on secondment in our London office and served his legal traineeship with a commercial law firm in Sydney/Australia.

Defending Autoliv against an antitrust damage claim by BMW following the European Commission's Occupant Safety Systems (II) decision before the Munich Regional Court in the amount of approximately EUR 90 million.
Defending a client in an antitrust damage claim in the amount of approximately EUR 100 million in connection with a Commission antitrust fine in the cables sector.
Defending a leading manufacturer of plastic packaging against claims for damages in connection with a Commission antitrust fine in the retail food packaging sector.
Representing and advising a company against its insurer and IT-service provider regarding damages resulting from an IT-security incident.
Defending a leading foreign bank against an action for declaration of enforceability in Germany (exequatur proceedings).
Representing and advising several companies in contractual disputes regarding IT projects.
Representation of a leading German Bank against a listed Software company suing for (unjustified) information and license measurement.
Representing and advising a payment service provider in a lawsuit against its former board member who has committed various breaches of duty.
Representing and advising a company in a M&A dispute with a value in dispute of approximately EUR 65 million regarding the sale of a payment service provider.
Representing and advising a hospitality company in a large-scale shareholder dispute.
Representation of a leading German bank in a lawsuit against an actuarial expert in connection with a deficient actuarial report which has caused a damage of several million euros.
Representing a leading European bank in a post-IPO dispute with its former shareholder.
Representing several banks and a German DAX-40 company regarding potential civil redress claims arising out of tax driven securities transactions.
Defending Hamburg Commercial Bank (former HSH Nordbank) in several lawsuits filed by investors.
