Biography

Overview

Élise Roussel is an Associate in the International Arbitration Group in Paris. Her practice covers investor-state arbitration, public international law and commercial arbitration.

Prior to joining White & Case, Élise acquired experience in state-to-state arbitration and public international law, international investment and commercial arbitration in major international law firms in Paris. She also worked at the Office of International Standards and Legal Affairs of UNESCO.

Élise has been actively involved in the Philip C. Jessup International Moot Court Competition for several years. She also participated in the Competencia Internacional de Arbitraje, a commercial arbitration moot court competition in Spanish, both as an oralist and as a coach.

Experience

Representing the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in an ICSID revision proceeding under the Australia-Pakistan BIT.

Representing the Roads Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia in an ICC commercial arbitration in the construction sector.

Representing the Government of Georgia in two related ICSID and ICC arbitrations arising out of the termination of an investment agreement relating to the development of a deep sea port at Anaklia, Georgia.

As part of the team of the Office of International Standards and Legal Affairs of UNESCO, assisted the team in preparing legal advice to the General Conference, the Executive Board and various intergovernmental bodies established for the implementation of the UNESCO conventions.*

As part of the team of the Office of International Standards and Legal Affairs of UNESCO, represented the Organization before the Administrative Tribunal of the International Labor Organization (ILOAT).*
