Gavin has significant experience in domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance, with a particular focus on complex, high-end corporate transactions.

Clients from a range of sectors, including financial institutions, technology and life sciences, value his proven ability to efficiently manage deals from start to finish. A partner in the Firm's global Mergers Acquisitions Practice, he is noted for his skill in navigating the intricacies of complex transactions with an international dimension.

Gavin's extensive track record spans international and domestic mergers and acquisitions, public and private takeovers, auctions, reorganisations, joint ventures, corporate governance, IPOs and other corporate transactions.

Gavin is the co-leader of the EMEA Financial Institutions M&A group.

Mediobanca on its acquisition of Cairn Capital, 2015

Gavin represented Mediobanca S.p.A., Italy's biggest publicly traded investment bank, on its acquisition of a controlling stake in Cairn Capital, a UK credit asset manager with US$5.6 billion of discretionary and legacy assets under management, with a further US$9.1 billion of assets under long term advice.

Zimmer Holdings on its acquisition of Biomet, 2015

Gavin was a member of the team representing Zimmer Holdings, Inc., a world leader in musculoskeletal health solutions, in its acquisition of Biomet, Inc., one of the world's leading medical device manufacturers, for an aggregate consideration of US$13.35 billion.

Comverse on its acquisition of the Acision Group, 2015

Gavin represented Comverse Inc on its acquisition of the Acision Group, a UK based secure mobile messaging and engagement services business. Comverse is a world leader in world digital services, is Nasdaq listed and a new client for the firm.

Racing Post on its corporate restructuring and refinancing, 2014

Gavin advised the Racing Post and its shareholders on a complex corporate reorganisation involving Hayfin Capital Partners.

HSBC on its US$176 million sale of HSBC Kazakhstan, 2014

Gavin represented HSBC on the US$176 million sale of its Kazakhstan subsidiary bank to Halyk Bank.

GSO/Blackstone on Amaya Gaming Group's US$4.9 billion acquisition of Rational Group Ltd., 2014

Gavin was part of the team that represented GSO Capital Partners, the credit division of The Blackstone Group, on the US$4.9 billion acquisition of the parent company of Rational Group Ltd., the world's largest poker business and owner and operator of the PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker brands, by Amaya Gaming Group Inc.

Svenska Handelsbanken's acquisition of Heartwood Wealth Group Ltd., 2013

Gavin represented Svenska Handelsbanken AB, the listed Sweden -based bank, on its acquisition of Heartwood Wealth Group Limited, the UK based investment and wealth management company, for an undisclosed amount.

Sunseeker's £320 million sale, 2013

Gavin led a team drawn from London and Beijing in advising British yacht maker Sunseeker and its private equity owners, FL Partners, on the £320 million sale of the company to Dalian Wanda Group, one of China's largest conglomerates.

GSO/Blackstone and the Miller Group, 2012

Gavin was one of the leaders of the deal team that advised GSO Capital Partners in connection with its investment in The Miller Group, the UK house-building, property development and construction business.

Sony's acquisition of EMI Music Publishing and NOW!, 2012

Gavin advised Sony on its US$2.2 billion acquisition of EMI Music Publishing and on its acquisition of NOW That's What I Call Music!
