James is a funds and investment management associate in our global Private Equity practice based in London.
James Rae has a mix of international offshore and onshore experience, having worked in South Africa, Guernsey and Germany before London. He has also worked inhouse for the largest private equity investor on continental Europe. With a broad background in the private equity industry, James provides deep knowledge of market trends and terms, from different geographical markets and industry perspectives.
James' practice includes advising European, US and UK clients on private equity fund establishment and LP-side mandates. He also advises on bespoke continuation, independent sponsor and co-investment arrangements.
His breadth of exposure includes advising DACH region venture capital clients, UK-based fund of funds and global institutional investors on investments into venture capital, private equity and infrastructure funds across various jurisdictions. He also has a keen interest on capital flows into African investment opportunities, and has experience establishing impact funds and advising Johannesburg based private equity funds on their investments in various jurisdictions on the African continent.
