Jingyuan Luo

Associate, Silicon Valley

Biography

Jingyuan (Jing) Luo is an associate in the Firm's Intellectual Property Practice. She represents innovative life sciences and technology companies in patent, trade secret, and complex commercial disputes involving business tort claims.

For life sciences companies, Jing litigates on behalf of innovator companies in disputes involving small molecules (salts, polymorphs, formulations, and process patents), biologic drugs, medical devices, and diagnostics. She has litigated Hatch-Waxman and Biologics Price Competition and Innovation Act (BPCIA) cases defending diabetes and cancer drugs against generic and biosimilar challenges. She helped defend the validity of all challenged claims of a salt/polymorph patent in an inter partes review and played a key role in related district court litigation involving a blockbuster diabetes drug. Her clients range from global pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies to pre-IPO startups.

For technology companies, Jing litigates patent and trade secret disputes involving semiconductors and memory devices, networking equipment, business communications systems, and software platforms. She has represented leading semiconductor, networking, and cloud communications companies before the PTAB, US district courts, and the Federal Circuit.

Jing's scientific training, including years of laboratory research in biosciences, helps her quickly master complex technology across industries and translate it for judges and juries. Before joining the Firm, Jing clerked for Judge Raymond T. Chen of the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Before law school, she was a Marshall Scholar, earning dual graduate degrees in biosciences and policy studies while conducting public policy research in the UK and the United States. Alongside her practice, Jing represents veterans pro bono before the Federal Circuit.
