Biography

Joaquín Pacheco is a Local Partner in White & Case's Mexico City office, where his practice focuses on strategic litigation, regulatory defense, compliance, and white collar matters for leading global technology, financial, and internet companies operating in Mexico and Latin America. He joined the Firm in 2018, bringing with him extensive experience from a prestigious firm specializing in commercial, civil, and bankruptcy litigation.

Joaquín leads complex litigation before federal and local courts across Mexico, with deep expertise in Amparo proceedings — particularly in civil and commercial law — having secured numerous favorable rulings and precedents on behalf of his clients. His practice covers a broad spectrum of disputes, including matters involving intermediary liability, data privacy and cybersecurity, defamation, intellectual property, consumer protection, and class and consumer class-action claims. He brings not only the legal acumen required to navigate these proceedings, but also the technical and computing fluency necessary to handle sophisticated technology-related disputes — a distinctive competency that sets him apart in advising global technology clients.

His experience spans the full lifecycle of disputes — from early-stage risk assessment and regulatory engagement to trial and appellate proceedings — including matters before the Federal Judiciary, IMPI, PROFECO, INAI, COFEPRIS, and other public regulatory agencies and authorities. He regularly designs and executes cross-border litigation strategies in coordination with local and international counsel, navigating parallel proceedings across multiple jurisdictions with a consistent and cohesive approach.

In compliance and white collar matters, Joaquín has conducted internal corporate investigations and represented Mexican, U.S., and other foreign multinational companies — as well as their governing boards and committees — in matters involving fraud, accounting irregularities, and regulatory issues.

Beyond the courtroom, Joaquín advises technology clients on regulatory advocacy and engagement with government authorities during legislative and rulemaking processes, as well as on the legal dimensions of product launches, platform operations, and commercial agreements. He is a trusted advisor to in-house legal teams, offering practical, business-oriented counsel that translates complex procedural and regulatory landscapes into clear, actionable strategies.
