Biography

Léa Gouwy is an associate in the International Arbitration Practice in Paris. Her practice covers both investment treaty and commercial arbitrations, as well as construction arbitration.

Prior to joining White & Case, Léa acquired experience in international arbitration, commercial litigation and public international law in several international law firms in Paris.

Experience

Representing the government of Georgia in the ICSID annulment proceedings related to the Gardabani Holdings B.V. and Silk Road Holdings B.V v. Georgia award;

Representing a State in annulment and enforcement proceedings before the Paris Court of Appeal;

Representing a Canadian mining company in an ICC arbitration against a DRC company in a dispute concerning the transfer of mining licenses and the negotiation of a joint venture contract;

Representing the national anti-doping committee of an African state in arbitration proceedings against the World Anti-Doping Agency;

Representing a French energy company in an ICC arbitration against a Spanish contractor in a dispute relating to the construction of a powerplant;

Representing a consortium of contractors in an ICC arbitration, involving one of the world's largest infrastructure projects located in Central America;

Representing a United Nations related organization in an UNCITRAL arbitration against an African consulting company in a dispute concerning the termination of a contract;

Advising a Middle-Eastern state on the modernization of its investment-state dispute provisions;

Acting as tribunal secretary in a Court of Arbitration for Sport dispute; and

Representing a French company in ICSID conciliation proceedings against a West African state-owned company concerning a water and electricity distribution concession. *
