Biography

Overview

Marina Zarubin is an Associate and solicitor advocate in the firm's Global Commercial Litigation Practice. Her practice focuses on complex commercial litigation and international arbitration.

Marina has experience and a strong interest in ESG- related litigation, including acting as defence counsel in a negligence claim against a multi-national mining company based on damage suffered in Sierra Leone. Marina regularly advises clients in relation to ESG-related litigation risk.

Marina is a member of the London Technology Disputes Group and frequently advises on legislative issues that impact on technology and social media companies. Marina frequently acts as counsel in technology disputes, including in matters involving privacy, data protection and intermediary liability.

Marina has broad experience in M&A litigation and matters involving sanctions, fraud and corruption. Marina has successfully represented both claimants and defendants in proceedings before the courts of England and Wales, the courts of the BVI, as well as in arbitrations administered by LCIA and other major arbitral institutions. Marina has extensive experience in Alternative Dispute Resolution, including mediation and expert determination.

Prior to joining White & Case in 2021, Marina trained and practised at a leading international law firm in London.

Experience

Representing Meta Platforms Inc. in international litigation matters, including with respect to claims involving defamation, hosting provider liability, intellectual property and consumer protection.

Advising a large financial institution under a complex shipping Facility Agreement in relation to Agent's liability risk in the context of Lenders' claims against the Borrower.

Representing a large Kazakh telecommunications company in an LCIA arbitration relating to a breach of a contractual warranty relating to the target's accounts.*

Representing a French IT company in a regulatory investigation and subsequent ad hoc UNCITRAL arbitration relating to a public procurement contract in Bangladesh, involving issues of corruption.*

Advising a large multi-national company based in London in relation to ESG litigation risk stemming from its operations in higher risk jurisdictions.*
