Biography

Nimanniyu Sharma is an associate in the International Arbitration Group in Paris. He has experience in representing private corporations and sovereign entities in international commercial, construction, and investment arbitration cases across a variety of industries. He has also advised clients in the enforcement of, and challenges to, arbitral awards in multiple jurisdictions.

Nimanniyu is part of the board of the Paris International Arbitration Chamber’s under-40 group (CAIP-40). Prior to joining White & Case, Nimanniyu was an associate with one of India's leading law firms as part of its commercial litigation and employment laws practice groups.

Nimanniyu has been actively involved in the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot competition as an arbitrator and coach for several years. He is also a trained mediator.

Experience

Representing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in PCCW Cascade (Middle East) Ltd. v. Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, an ICSID arbitration under the Saudi Arabia-China BIT relating to the claimant's interests in a telecommunications operator in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Representing a middle eastern State in an ICSID arbitration arising from a concession for the distribution of natural gas. The matter resulted in full dismissal of all claims, some on jurisdictional grounds and the remaining on merits.*

Representing an Indian telecom products distributor in the High Court of New Delhi in annulment proceedings by, and enforcement proceedings against a Chinese manufacturing corporation.*

Representing a consortium of shareholders before the National Company Law Tribunal in New Delhi on issues of corporate oppression, mismanagement and the intersection of arbitration and insolvency laws.*

Representing an EPC company in a DAC arbitration and pre-arbitral litigation against its sub-contractor relating to delays and non-completion of a fertilizer manufacturing plant.*
