Biography
Reginald Augustus is Counsel in White & Case’s Global Project Development and Finance Practice, based in Washington, DC. He advises clients on nuclear regulatory matters across the lifecycle of nuclear facilities, including siting and licensing, construction, operation, license renewal, decommissioning and related areas such as security, enforcement, and financial assurance.
Reginald joined White & Case after more than two decades at the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). In the Office of the General Counsel, he advised on complex regulatory issues for multiple NRC offices, including enforcement actions and security-related matters, and represented the agency in adjudicatory proceedings and dispute resolution. He also handled administrative law matters and licensing and oversight issues affecting operating reactors and medical isotope production and utilization facilities.
Earlier in his NRC career, Reginald served as a financial analyst, helping to develop and oversee the decommissioning financial assurance program within the Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards. His combined legal and financial experience gives him a pragmatic understanding of how agency requirements, policy priorities, and commercial objectives intersect, enabling clients to navigate sensitive nuclear regulatory issues with a clear view of regulatory process, institutional priorities, and business risk.
