Overview

Sara Green is a senior associate in the Firm's Corporate team and the Energy, Infrastructure and Project Finance group, and is based in the Johannesburg office.

Sara has experience drafting and negotiating a broad spectrum of transactional documents and specialises in cross border, pan-African transactions.

Sara acts for both local and international banks, financial institutions and other investors on a variety of transactional matters, in particular project finance and acquisition finance.

Clients have described her as the 'most valuable player', 'exceptional' and praised her for her 'brilliant local support'. In addition, Sara is committed to corporate social responsibility and was the recipient of an internal pro bono award in 2014 for her work for the Child Rights International Network.

Prior to joining White & Case Sara was an associate at a leading South African firm.

Representation of the selling shareholders of Alexander Forbes on its listing on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange at a total market capitalization value of ZAR9.768 billion.

Representation of NEC, a multinational information technology and network solutions company, on its acquisition of a minority controlling equity interest in XON, a South African information technology company,  and  related Black Economic Empowerment transaction.

Representation of Brenntag N.V. on its purchase of Lionheart Chemical Engineering, a South African specialist distributor, via an auction process.

Representation of the lender of a US$40 million debt and equity investment in a distressed asset and asset management company with a key focus in South Africa, Botswana and Namibia.

Representation of the lenders of a ZAR550 million term loan facility for the purposes of financing a property development in South Africa;

Representation of the lenders of a US$200 million senior secured borrowing base facility relating to oil and gas assets located in Egypt.

Representation of a consortium of lenders on the potential sale of a renewable energy asset located in South Africa.

Representation of the lenders in relation to the PICO Group's expansion of its Suez oil and gas fields (a matter which won Best Energy Infrastructure Deal at the Project Finance Awards 2015). 

Represented the lender of a US$13 million term loan affecting twelve different African jurisdictions and relating to the development of the financial services sector. *

Represented the lender of a US$100 million equity investment affecting fourteen different jurisdictions (including various countries in Africa, the UK and South America) and requiring listing on the Mauritian Stock Exchange.*
