Biography

Overview

Will is an associate in White & Case's Dispute Resolution Group based in London. He advises clients in high-value, complex and cross-border commercial disputes before the English Courts and in international arbitrations (including arbitrations conducted under the LCIA and SIAC rules).

Will has a broad commercial practice and acts for large corporate clients, sovereign states and financial institutions. He has considerable experience in advising clients on disputes involving fraud, setting aside arbitral awards, obtaining and defending freezing injunctions, warranty and indemnity claims and shareholder disputes. Will also has considerable experience in litigating insurance claims for corporate policyholders and professional indemnity disputes against solicitors, architects and financial advisers.

Will joined White & Case from another leading law firm in October 2020.

Experience

Advising a Middle Eastern bank in relation to a portfolio of non-performing loans in excess of US$500 million and acting as coordinating counsel for its global enforcement strategy.

Process & Industrial Developments v Federal Republic of Nigeria, Commercial Court, 2019-2020. Acting for Nigeria in successful set-aside proceedings relating to a US$10bn arbitral award allegedly procured by fraud. Related civil proceedings in the USA and regulatory / criminal proceedings in Nigeria. 

Acting for a sovereign state in a series of successful arbitrations under the ICC and SCIA rules involving public procurement corruption affecting assets in excess of US$2.1 billion. Related criminal, regulatory and civil proceedings on three continents. 

Acting for a US listed company with respect to parallel regulatory and criminal investigations concerning allegations of financial fraud.

Acting for two state owned enterprises in an arbitration under the ICC rules. Dispute regarding a US$30m indemnity claim under a SPA. 

Paralel Routs v Fedotov, Business & Property Court, 2017-2018. Acting for Mr Fedotov in this breach of contract dispute involving issues of Russian law, defending a freezing injunction. Related criminal and civil proceedings in Russia. 

Reignwood Group v Ni, Commercial Court, 2017-2018. Acting for Reignwood in this joint venture dispute governed by Chinese law. Related proceedings in Luxembourg and the US.
