Alex serves as the head of White & Case's operation in China as well as the firm's China corporate and M&A practice. Having spent more than 28 years advising US, European and Asian clients on all types of cross-border corporate transactions in China, he is recognized as a leading lawyer for China-related transactions.

Alex has a balance of experience working with multinational corporations, Chinese corporates (both public and private), state-owned companies and financial institutions. Clients come to him for insights and advice on complex antitrust matters, mergers and acquisitions, equity investments, venture capital and private equity financing transactions, corporate restructurings, joint ventures and strategic alliances, corporate matters and regulatory issues. He has substantial experience advising on antitrust and antibribery compliance matters relating to China.

Shenzhen Hepalink Pharmaceutical Co.

Alex represented Shenzhen Hepalink Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd., which is listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange, and its US subsidiary, Hepalink USA Inc., in its US$337.5 million acquisition of 100 percent of the equity interest of Scientific Protein Laboratories, LLC, one of the leading global, independent manufacturers and suppliers of active pharmaceutical ingredients.

Zhejiang Sanhua Co. Ltd.

Alex represented Zhejiang Sanhua Co. Ltd., a leading global manufacturer of components for privately and commercially used refrigeration and air-conditioning units, which is listed on the Shenzen Stock Exchange, in the acquisition of AWECO - Group, a manufacturer and distributor of components for household appliances. The transaction involved a cross-border team of White & Case lawyers in Germany, Austria, Poland, China and Slovakia and marked Sanhua's first major acquisition in Europe.

Johnson Matthey Plc

Alex represented Johnson Matthey Plc, a British chemicals company, in its acquisition of the battery materials manufacturing business in Changzhou, China from A123 Systems (China) by way of asset purchase.

BioVeda China Funds

Alex has represented BioVeda China Funds in a number of investments and trade sales in the life sciences sector.

Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Limited (ICBC)

Alex advised ICBC, the world's largest bank by market capitalization, on its proposed subscription of newly issued shares in SinoPac Financial Holdings (a Taiwan-listed financial holding company) for US$784 million of its wholly owned subsidiary Bank SinoPac for US$624 million, by way of private placement.

The J.M. Smucker Company

Alex advised The J.M. Smucker Company regarding its acquisition of a non-controlling equity position in one of the leading Chinese manufacturers of oatmeal products.
