The Asian American Bar Association of New York (AABANY) has named global law firm White & Case LLP the recipient of the 2024 AABANY Law Firm Diversity Award. This marks the second time the Firm has won.

The award recognizes our "commitment to creating a work environment that values each individual's contributions to the community and respects the different backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences of people at the firm." This includes advancing AABANY's mission of actively recruiting, retaining, promoting and developing Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) lawyers in New York.

Our win reflects several of the Firm's diversity and inclusion (D&I) initiatives, such as:

  • The partner-led Global Diversity & Inclusion Committee, which works to attract diverse talent, offering professional support and opportunities for all colleagues
  • Firm-wide Affinity Groups, including the 350-member Asian Affinity Group, which promotes the advancement of the Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islanders (AANHPI) legal community
  • Recruitment and training programs such as the White & Case 1L Diversity Fellowship—which allows law students to take part in our ten-week summer associate program—and the year-long White & Case Diversity Sponsorship Program, which matches associates with partner sponsors to support their professional growth

AABANY also praised the Firm's high percentage of AAPI women attorneys globally, noting it was a sign of our successful D&I efforts. Of our lawyers, 9.3 percent identify as AAPI, 54 percent of whom are women.

AABANY President Joseph Eng, Jr. said: "AABANY is proud to honor White & Case as the winner of the 2024 Law Firm Diversity Award through their outstanding achievements in fostering a diverse workplace culture. Their establishment of diversity programs and initiatives fosters equity amongst their colleagues of all identities."
