White & Case Co-Head of Global M&A, Kimberly Petillo-Décossard, appeared on a Bloomberg Deals segment to discuss the forces that have shaped global M&A activity in the first half of 2026.
She explained how the prominence of megadeals has been influenced by perceived opportunity cost as strategics chase scale, particularly as AI has driven a convergence of deals in the energy, technology and infrastructure sectors.
When discussing the role that market volatility is playing in dealmaking, Kimberly noted that "volatility favors the prepared," and emphasized the importance of having a clear thesis, financing relationships and target lists ready so buyers can move quickly in a fast-changing market.
On the outlook for the second half of the year, Kimberly predicted that we will see "sustained deal activity… because all of the players are being very disciplined."
