White & Case partner on using legal knowledge as a springboard

In a Q&A with International Financial Law Review as part of its "Five minutes with" series, White & Case partner Jessica Chen discussed her practice and career.

When providing an overview of her work, Jessica explained: "I help companies raise capital, mainly using their equity, in order to fund initiatives that help the company grow." She noted that she spends much of her days working with clients and colleagues across Europe and Asia, also emphasizing the support she receives from the "brilliant associates" she works alongside.

"The most exciting aspect is that each day is different, and I never know what new issues will come my way," Jessica said, adding that the Firm is "at the forefront of structuring new ways of doing things and figuring out how it works."

While Jessica noted the importance of understanding the rules as a lawyer, she argues that "a truly great lawyer then uses that knowledge as a springboard."
