White & Case advises SPACEBEL on satellite contract with Democratic Republic of the Congo

Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised SPACEBEL, the Belgian space systems and software engineering company, on its agreement with the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) for the development, delivery, commissioning and maintenance of the country's first earth observation satellite.

The agreement which was signed mid-June in Kinshasa with the DRC's Ministry of Higher Education, Universities, Scientific Research and Innovation, marks a significant milestone for both SPACEBEL and the Belgian space industry and will provide the DRC with sovereign earth observation capabilities to support environmental monitoring (such as forests, lakes, mountains, crops), natural resource management, scientific research and national development objectives.
