Overview

Ahmet concentrates on and has an extensive experience in commercial litigation and arbitration mainly arising from complex disputes on private law. He also provides legal service for the prosecutions as well as public lawsuits including but not limited to the cases related to white-collar crimes and economic crimes. He has gained over 20 years' experience assisting local and international clients on lawsuits and prosecutions related to private law, commercial law, administrative law, arbitration and labor law.

Experience

Litigation:

Representing a Turkish electricity production company in lawsuits arising out of disputes regarding the maintenance and operation of power plants.

Providing labor law advice to a Turkish producer of refractory equipment, and representing the company in termination of C level employees and related lawsuits.

Represented an international law firm operating in the United States before public prosecutor's offices and criminal courts in Turkey within the scope of investigations initiated simultaneously in multiple jurisdictions in relation to fraud crimes committed using banking and information systems.

Represented an airline operational and engine maintenance services provider based in Norway in relation to the enforcement of a foreign court judgment in Türkiye.

Represented a major Turkish bank in relation to a petition drafted by the Bank's in house legal team to be filed with the relevant Administrative courts. The case relates to an appeal of a Competition Authority's fining decision with respect to document production within the context of a preliminary investigation carried out by the Competition Authority.

Represented a former representative of a global company providing ride-hailing transportation services in the criminal proceedings initiated against the individual in Türkiye.

Represented a Turkish affiliate of a Swiss multinational food and drink processing conglomerate in a high profile litigation involving claims over the client's shares, real estate, trademarks, licenses and other rights and assets.

Represented a leading Turkish destination & travel management company in a multi-party debt assignment and restructuring process.

Represented a Turkish company providing general medical and surgical hospital services in various lawsuits and execution proceedings.

Represented a Family based in the Middle East with investments in Türkiye in their international litigation proceedings related to inheritance.

Represented an international financial institution in two separate litigation proceedings related to banking transactions.

Represented a Turkish holding company in a lawsuit in an attempt to annul a high profile enforcement proceeding against the client.

Representing a Swedish telecommunication group company in the commercial lawsuit filed against the biggest Turkish telecommunication company regarding the cancellation of its fictitious group share transfer performed in British Virgin Islands.

Filing and following up several execution and bankruptcy proceedings on behalf of a French bank against a national company group (active on the field of gold production) in relation to the sale of gold bullion consigned by the client bank.

Representing a well-known Turkish investment group (mainly active on the fields of energy, real estate investment and chemistry) in several commercial disputes on cancellation of general assembly resolutions, determination of voidness of the board of directors' resolutions, appointment of the special auditor and legal liability lawsuits as well as criminal disputes filed by one of the investment group's shareholders against its members of the board of directors (white-color criminal cases).

Assisting an American bank in the cancellation lawsuit filed before the administrative court in relation to administrative decision taken as a result of public tender regarding the transfer of public receivables worth one billion dollars.

Representing a global automotive production company in several commercial and consumer lawsuits regarding its defective vehicles.

 

Corporate Advising:

Providing legal advice to an international financial institution in relation with the legal issues between the shareholders and company executives arising out of the shareholders' agreement and matters concerning the management of a Turkish company in which the Bank had indirect shareholding through a subsidiary.

Providing legal advice to a major Turkish participation bank on a regular basis on disputes between shareholders and on various issues related to banking law, capital markets law, administrative law and commercial law.

Providing legal advice to a group of foreign and national banks in all stages of the process of extending a loan amounting to hundreds of millions of EUR to the companies operating a shopping mall including the pre-dispute and enforcement stages.

Represented a Turkish subsidiary of an UAE-based conglomerate operating in non-residential building construction industry, on a large-scale commercial and administrative lawsuits. In addition, we also provided legal advice with respect to real estate law.

Represented a South Korea-based corporation specializing in IT services for B2B luxury wholesale businesses in litigation and/or arbitration against a Türkiye-based sport brands retailer for breach of contract and sale of counterfeit luxury goods.

Represented an international financial institution in connection with the termination of employment contracts in its Turkish representative office.

Represented a global social media platform in several execution proceedings and lawsuits related to debt recovery.

Represented a Turkish company operating in the tire and construction reinforcement and composites markets in relation to a preliminary investigation on a legal issue and issued a legal opinion in connection with a white-collar investigation.

 

Arbitration:

Representing a national energy company in Türkiye in the arbitration proceeding to be initiated before Istanbul Chamber of Commerce Arbitration Board regarding the counter party's defective production of the essential part of the generator at its Hydroelectric Plant.

Advising a well-known Turkish construction company in its arbitration proceeding before ICC Geneva in terms of Turkish law.

Representing a national real estate investment partnership in the arbitration proceedings filed by its sub-contractors (arbitration was performed by special Turkish arbitrators).
