Overview

Aida Fernandez is an Associate in the Firm's Energy, Infrastructure, Project, and Asset Finance Practice with a focus on project finance and banking in Latin America. Prior to joining White & Case, Aida worked at a top law firm based in Madrid in 2019 in their Banking and Competition practices.

Aida was awarded the Entrepreneurial Lawyers Award at Instituto de Empresa in 2016 as a result of her work in the program of Un Techo Para Mi Pais in Guatemala. In addition, she earned the Council of Europe Award in 2018 for earning first place in the European Human Rights Competition and the Albert H. Kritzker Award in 2019 for her Statement of Claim on the Moot Madrid Competition.

Aida is fluent in Spanish, French and English.

PMGD financing 
Represenstation of Toesca Renovables SpA (Toesca), a sociedad por acciones, organized and existing under the laws of Chile, on a non-recourse project financing for a portfolio of greenfield solar photovoltaic projects in Chile.

Sonnedix non-recourse project financing
Representation of Sonnedix on a non-recourse mini-perm project financing for a portfolio of greenfield and operating solar photovoltaic projects in Chile. The projects qualify for Chile's PMGD (Pequeños Medios de Generación Distribuida) regime, which enables renewable projects with an installed capacity of 9 MWs or less to sell energy to the system under a stabilized price tariff.

Agreement for the development of a combined cycle power plant 
Representation of New Fortress Energy and its affiliate, Celba 2 – Centrais Elétricas Barcarena S.A. in the signing of an approximately USD$530 million Lump Sum Turnkey Engineering, Procurement and Construction Agreement for the development of a single shaft combined cycle power plant and related facilities including a high voltage substation, high voltage transmission line, connection bay, auxiliary systems and control systems, to be located near the Municipality of Barcarena, State of Para, Brazil.

Banistmo syndicated loan
Representation of the joint lead arrangers and joint bookrunners, and administrative agent, in connection with a US$320 million syndicated term loan facility for Banistmo, S.A. the largest bank in Panama.

Financing of a green bitcoin mining facility
Representation of Cumulus Digital LLC, as Borrower and the other Cumulus guarantors (all wholly-owned subsidiaries of Talen Energy Corporation) with respect to their US$175M senior secured financing from Orion Energy Partners, which will be used to fund the construction and operation of Talen's bitcoin mining joint venture ("Nautilus Cryptomine") as well as to fund common infrastructure for Nautilus Cryptomine and the Cumulus hyperscale data center campus located adjacent to Talen's 2.5GW Susquehanna carbon-free nuclear plant.
