Overview

Alikhan Baizakov is an associate in Astana office and a member of the Kazakhstan Energy, Infrastructure and Project Finance and Capital Markets Practice Groups.

He provides support to both international and domestic clients on various aspects of Kazakhstan law, including corporate law issues, such as establishment of presence of international companies in Kazakhstan, management and operating of such companies along with their daily operations. Alikhan participated in a number of M&A and finance transactions, conducted variety of due diligences in various spheres, including infrastructure, mining and telecommunication. In addition he provided support to international clients on various public procurement issues in relation to pitch structuring and submissions.

Prior to joining White & Case, Alikhan was an Associate in one of the leading international law firms in Kazakhstan.

Representation of the largest global development institution on debt financing and equity investment in Kazakhstan LLP. The representation involved advising on a secured loan facility to Kazakhstan LLP and a capital contribution.

Representation of a major mining company on its multimillion acquisition of ferroalloy assets. Advised on the M&A aspects along with obtaining applicable Kazakhstan governmental consents and pre-acquisition structuring matters.

Representation of a large oil & gas company on acquisition from Kazakhstan investors of a 100% interest in Kazakhstan LLP, a subsoil user in oil & gas, including conducting due diligence in respect of the target entity.

Advising in relation to the jurisdictional review of Islamic finance regulation and framework in Kazakhstan for large Chinese company.

Representation of a major Kazakhstan microcredit organization, advice in regard to equity investment to the charter capital.
