Biography

Overview

Anna Lubberger's practice focuses on European and German antitrust law. She has significant experience in EU and international merger control matters and has been involved in complex merger reviews. In addition, she advises clients in a broad range of antitrust matters, including cartel investigations, anticompetitive agreements, abusive dominance cases, vertical restraints, antitrust litigation and compliance.

Anna Lubberger's experience covers various industries, notably the consumer goods, chemical, pharmaceutical, automotive, digital and sports industries.

Prior to joining White & Case in 2022, Anna Lubberger worked in antitrust for another renowned US law firm in Cologne and Brussels for seven years.

Selected merger control experience:*

Advised Attestor Limited in its joint acquisition of Europcar ($2.5 billion) together with Volkswagen and Pon Holdings B.V.

Advised United Technologies Corporation in its $30 billion acquisition of Rockwell Collins.

Advised The Dow Chemical Company in its $130 billion merger of equals with DuPont (including the implementation of the Dow remedies).

Advised Henkel in relation to a number of international mergers and acquisitions.

Selected behavioral/litigation experience:*

Advised German football clubs Bayer 04 Leverkusen, TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, and VfL Wolfsburg before the German Federal Cartel Office in relation to the "50+1 rule", which prevents investors from controlling German football clubs.

Advised Google in the German Federal Cartel Office's investigation of significance across markets under the new rules for large digital players (Section 19a GWB).

Advised Google in an antitrust damages litigation brought by Idealo GmbH (a subsidiary by Axel Springer) before the Regional Court of Berlin.

Advised a leading sports media rights company in relation to an investigation into alleged anti-competitive behavior by the European Commission.

Advised the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in relation to restrictions on the exploitation of image rights of athletes during the Olympic Games.

Advised health care company Baxter on various competition law issues.
