Biography

Overview

Denise Cheung is an associate in the Firm's Dispute Resolution practice.

Denise has experience in cross-border insolvencies, restructurings, commercial litigation and enforcement actions.  She also advises on regulatory and employment matters, and has worked with a diverse range of clients, including banks, corporates, agents and distressed investors. 

Denise has also spent six months in the Firm's London office, where her focus was on financial restructurings and insolvency matters.

Representing a US-based data centre developer in Hong Kong High Court proceedings brought under a confidentiality agreement in connection with a €750 million project in Germany.

Representing a major Chinese bank in Hong Kong High Court proceedings brought against a listed company and guarantors in connection with a HKD480 million loan default.

Representing one of the largest TW-based IT corporation in a HKIAC arbitration arising from a cross-border contractual dispute.

Advising the joint and several liquidators of a Hong Kong-listed company on the liquidation process.

Advising a Chinese asset management company on the winding-up proceedings in the Cayman Islands brought against a Hong Kong-listed company.

Advising a Chinese asset management company on its enforcement of debts against a deceased guarantor and relevant beneficiaries.

Advising a Chinese conglomerate on its cross-border debt restructuring and settlement with creditors involving its worldwide assets.

Advising a social media giant on international litigation risks and Hong Kong law issues, including defamation, data privacy and regulatory matters.

Advising a French corporate and investment bank and prepared a comprehensive legal review on various issues, including data protection and privilege, in relation to a United States investigation.
