Biography
George is a partner in White & Case's Global Project Development and Finance Practice and is a member of the Energy Markets and Regulatory and Global Energy Industry Groups. George Fatula's practice focuses on energy-related transactions, regulatory matters, projects, and controversies. George has extensive experience navigating the intersection of regulatory and commercial issues arising in the development and operation of major energy infrastructure projects.
George regularly advises energy infrastructure project developers and operators in negotiating and drafting commercial agreements and transaction documents, and steering through regulatory issues arising in the development, expansion, or repurposing of pipeline, storage, export, and other infrastructure projects. George represents project developers in permitting and related proceedings to obtain regulatory approval for new projects, including FERC certificate applications and proceedings. He advises project developers and emitters in structuring and negotiating commercial arrangements underpinning carbon capture, transport, and sequestration projects and other energy transition matters. George also represents service providers, producers, generators, project investors, and marketers in commercial, transactional, and regulatory matters, including purchase and sale transactions, compliance matters, tariff and certificate proceedings, and contested matters.
George also has experience counselling market participants on regulatory and commercial issues in the structuring and documentation of derivatives transactions. George has also been recognized as a "rising star lawyer in the District of Columbia" (IFLR 1000, 2024).

Representation of TC Energy Corporation on its US$1.275 billion sale of US midstream assets held by its subsidiary, Columbia Midstream Group, to a subsidiary of UGI Corporation.*
Representation of AP Energy Holdings Inc. and South Field Energy LLC on their US$1.3 billion project financing and equity arrangements for the construction of the South Field Energy project.*
Representation of Cheniere Energy, Inc. on its joint venture with EIG Global Energy Partners for the development of the Midship pipeline project.*

Representation of two of Tallgrass's interstate natural gas pipelines – Trailblazer and Rockies Express – in connection with a momentous new project that will involve Trailblazer converting a large portion of its system from natural gas service to carbon dioxide service. FERC granted the abandonment application in October of 2023, and we continue to represent the company in all aspects of the regulatory and commercial processes to effectuate the conversion from natural gas service.*

Representation of AP Energy Holdings Inc and South Field Energy LLC on the $1.3 billion project financing and equity arrangements for the construction of the South Field Energy project, a 1,182 MW combined-cycle natural gas electric generating facility located near Wellsville, Ohio.*
Representation of Apache Corporation on the execution of a long-term agreement with Enterprise Products Partners L.P., committing 100 percent of its Alpine High natural gas liquids to Enterprise and the grant to Apache for an option for a 33 percent equity stake in the Enterprise Shin Oak pipeline, including regulatory issues related to NGL transportation arrangements.*
Representation of Targa Resources Partners LP on commercial and regulatory issues associated with the development of the Grand Prix NGL pipeline, including TSA, tariffs, open season and related matters.*
Representation of a joint venture company in connection with the development of a new, 250-miles interstate natural gas pipeline, including negotiation and drafting of commercial agreements, FERC certificate proceedings and related matters.*
Representation of Delek Logistics Partners LP on projects involving contractual volume commitments on Delek's Paline Pipeline system, which transports crude oil from Longview, Texas, to the storage and marketing hub in Nederland, Texas.*
Representation of Energy Transfer Partners L.P. (including Sunoco Logistics) as regulatory counsel on crude oil pipeline projects including Dakota Access, Bayou Bridge, Permian Express 2, Permian Express 3, and other crude oil pipelines on open season and transportation agreement issues and regulatory approvals, including obtaining declaratory orders from FERC approving rates and terms and conditions of service.*
