Henry Gafsen
Biography
Henry is an associate in White & Case's EU law and competition law practice groups. In addition to his work on all aspects of competition law, Henry has been a leading associate in cases before the European Courts concerning abuse of dominance, cartels, competition damages, financial services regulation, technology regulation, four freedoms, and fundamental rights.
Before joining White & Case, Henry worked in the London and Brussels offices of an international law firm and taught EU merger control at King's College London. He formerly completed a stage at DG COMP in the information technology antitrust unit.
Henry holds an LLM specialising in competition law from KCL, an MSc in economics from LSE, and an undergraduate degree in history from Oxford.
Experience
Bulgarian Energy Holding (Article 102). Represented BEH in its successful challenge against an abuse of dominance decision before the General Court, as well as in the ongoing appeal before the ECJ.
Meta Platforms Ireland Limited (DSA). Represented MPIL in its successful challenge of the European Commission's DSA supervisory fee decision.
SAS Cargo (Article 101). Assisted with SAS' partially successful appeal against the General Court's Air Cargo judgment.
WhatsApp Ireland (GDPR). Representing WhatsApp Ireland in its ongoing challenge of an EDPB decision before the General Court.
Google (Damages Directive). Assisted Google in the Heureka preliminary reference regarding the determination of limitation periods in competition damages claims.
Teva (Article 102). Assisting with an ongoing annulment application regarding an abuse of dominance decision concerning patent practices and disparagement.
