Overview

Hiba is an associate in the Energy, Infrastructure, Project and Asset Finance Group in our London office. Hiba joined the Firm as a trainee in 2013 and qualified in August 2015.

As part of her training, Hiba spent six months on secondment to our Tokyo office and a further six months on secondment to our Abu Dhabi office working on international project financings.

Hiba has experience acting for both sponsors and lenders in the power, oil and gas and infrastructure sectors in Asia, the Middle East and Europe.

Experience

Representation of the Compagnie des Bauxites de Guinee (CBG) lenders (Natixis, BNPP, SocGen, Credit Agricole, ING, IFC and OPIC) on the approximately US$700 million expansion financing of the CBG bauxite project in the Republic of Guinea, one of the largest Africa mining financings in 2016. The transaction involves a large UFK-covered tranche.

Representation of US Ex-Im, the commercial lenders and the Islamic financiers in relation to the US$1.45 billion refinancing of the Riyadh PP11 Independent Power Project in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Representation of the project company in connection with the construction and development of a 1,320MW coal fired power plant and associated facilities in Ayoun Moussa, Egypt.

Representation of International Finance Corporation in connection with its US $365 million investment in a power sector development and investment arm of a Turkey-based company.

Representation of JBIC and the commercial lenders in the financing of two LNG tankers, constructed by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, owned by Mitsubishi Corporation, and chartered to Chubu Electric for use on the Gorgon LNG and Ichthys LNG projects in Australia.

Representation of a consortium of major Japanese utilities on their equity investment in, and long-term purchase of, liquefied natural gas from the Ichthys LNG Project, the largest oil and gas development in the Northern Territory of Australia.

Representation of STEAG GmbH in connection with the financing of the development of the Crucea North 108 MW wind farm project in Romania.
