Jacek Polewski focuses on commercial and competition law. He also has experience in advising on European Union law, in particular in the areas of competition law and cross-border mergers.

In commercial law matters, he has been involved in a number of acquisitions and spin-offs, both private and public, in various sectors, including the pharmaceutical, health, IT, chemicals, construction, banking and insurance sectors. He recently advised a global banking group on the spin-off of a local brokerage house.

In his commercial practice, Jacek Polewski also advises on corporate law matters, including advising on corporate structuring of transactions, shareholders agreements, and corporate restructuring. He also assists in negotiating various contracts where he provides advice on contract law. Recently, he assisted a Polish chemicals company in negotiating a supply contract with a global US-based manufacturing group.

In competition law, Jacek concentrates on competition aspects of mergers. He has successfully represented clients in the proceedings for merger approval before the Polish National Competition Authority. In addition, he advises on other competition law aspects, including anticompetitive practices and anticompetitive clauses in contacts.

Prior to joining White & Case, he was an intern in a Polish law firm in Poznań and a well-known international law firm in Warsaw.

Waterland Private Equity Investments B.V.: representation of Waterland Private Equity Investments B.V. in connection with the purchase of over 60% of the total  number of shares of the company Kredyt Inkaso S.A. from its current shareholders. The total sale price for all the shares of the company was approx. EUR 46 mln (in the form of the share price and in the form of paying the company's debt).

Kompania Węglowa S.A.:  representation of Kompania Węglowa S.A. ("KW") in connection with KW's restructuring process and the establishment of Polska Grupa Górnicza Sp. z o.o. ("PGG") including, for example: (i) the sale of KW's enterprise to PGG, which included 11 mines and 4 plants and (ii) an investment agreement with investors where the investment level was over PLN 2.4 bln.

Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa S.A.: representation of Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa S.A. on the PLN 372 million sale of shares in Energy Company Jastrzębie S.A. to PGNiG Termika S.A.

CIECH S.A.: represented KI Chemistry s.à r.l., a subsidiary of Kulczyk Investments S.A., in connection with the acquisition of a majority of shares in CIECH S.A., the leading European chemical company and the second largest producer of soda ash in Europe. The transaction was carried out by way of a tender offer for the acquisition of up to 66% of the issued share capital of CIECH S.A. Value of the transaction: PLN 835 million (US$278 million).

Roust Trading Ltd.: represented Roust Trading Ltd. in connection with the acquisition of CEDC.

Bosch and Siemens Home Appliances Group: advised BSH on competition aspects of its distribution system.

Chellomedia and CBS Corporation: represented Chellomedia (Liberty Global group company) and CBS Corporation in their joint notification of the establishment of their joint venture to the Polish competition authority.

PGNiG S.A.: advised PGNiG S.A. on a range of competition law issues arising from the company's activities.

Makhteshim Agan Industries ltd: represented Makhteshim Agan in connection with the acquisition of Rokita Argo S.A.

Sanofi-Aventis: represented Sanofi-Aventis in connection with the acquisition of Nepentes.
