Overview

Jennifer Stolp is a partner in the Project Development and Finance Group and is based in South Africa.

She has acted for the largest banking institutions in South Africa, international banks, corporates and other institutional investors in relation to cross-border syndicated lending, acquisition finance, project finance, trade finance and restructuring and insolvency matters.

Jen has a focus on and passion for emerging market finance, particularly in Africa.

Experience

Representation of the African Development Bank in respect of its ZAR2 billion subscription for notes under the Nedbank ZAR25 billion Domestic Medium Term Note Programme, listed on the Green Segment of the Interest Rate Market of the JSE, and utilised for sustainable development goals.

Representation of a consortium of international banks, with Standard Chartered Bank as the Agent, in respect of the MIGA guaranteed loan to be made available to the Eastern and Southern African Trade and Development Bank, to be utilised for COVID-19 relief financing.

Representation of Bounty Brands Group in the financial and corporate restructuring of the group, which spans SA, the UK, Poland and Malta, and includes restructuring of senior debt, negotiating new money second lien funding and preference share funding, new shareholders agreements and numerous minority shareholder issues and cross-border lending and security.

Representation of IFC in respect of the funding of the Luna meat exporting facility in Ethiopia.*

Representation of IFC in respect of the funding of the purchase and upgrade of the 3B group of hotels in Rwanda.*

Representation of the Development Bank of Southern Africa on a sovereign loan to the Republic of Angola, for the upgrade of the Port of Namibe.*

Representation of Afreximbank on the €300 million global credit facility made available to Moto-Engil Engenharia e Construção África, S.A.*

Representation of Caterpillar Financial Services UK Ltd as lender counsel on the project financing of the Cadoxton gas-fired peaking power plant in Cardiff, Wales.*

Representation of Nedbank Limited and Absa Bank Limited in respect of the Ngodwana biomass project, which was the first biomass project to reach financial close in the fourth bidding phase of the REIPPP Programme, and in respect of which Sappi Limited is the lead equity member.*

Representation of The Bidvest Group Limited on the financing of the acquisition of a £500 million healthcare group in the United Kingdom.*
