Joel is an associate in the Technology Transactions Practice within the Firm's Intellectual Property Group. Joel specializes in transactions and counseling involving intellectual property and technology.
Before starting his law career, Joel was both a Software Developer and Real Estate Broker.
Joel obtained a Bachelor's in Computer Science and Economics in 2000, and worked as a Software Developer and Systems Engineer for four years. During this time, Joel was employed by two startups developing web-based business applications, and a large multi-national telecommunications company performing large-scale database optimization and design.
In 2005, Joel became a California Real Estate Broker and soon after founded, built and managed successful boutique real estate brokerage that specialized in foreclosure transactions and property management for both corporate and individual clientele.
While in law school at the University of California Hastings, Joel served on the editorial staff of the Hastings Law Journal. Joel also spent both summers during law school working at a large international law firm in their Intellectual Property Litigation Group as a summer associate.
Joel's experience in software development and negotiating real estate transactions provides a unique skill set to draw upon for clients with complex technology transactions issues.
