Juan Ignacio Lopez Dominguez joined White & Case in 2014. His practice is mainly focused in the areas of tax consulting and litigation, as well as customs and foreign trade.
As part of his practice, he provides tax advice to clients in several tax-related areas, including cross-border and domestic mergers, corporate restructurings, international taxation and transfer pricing.
Juan Ignacio's experience also includes litigation before tax authorities in administrative and judicial procedures, representing clients in law suits involving tax liabilities in connection with income tax and value added tax, as well as legal remedies challenging the constitutionality of tax regulations and Mexican tax laws.
Juan Ignacio also has experience in customs and foreign trade matters such as anti-dumping procedures, tariff classification issues before customs, litigation before customs authorities, customs administrative procedures and IMMEX authorization procedures, to name a few.
Prior to joining White & Case, Juan Ignacio worked in a prestigious law firm specializing in high-level tax advisory and consulting.
Has advised numerous clients on customs and foreign trade related matters, such as Anti-dumping procedures before the Ministry of Economy, IMMEX related issues and authorizations and has represented clients in customs and foreign trade audits and litigations as well as tariff classification issues before Customs Authorities.
Juan Ignacio has advised and represented one of the most important railroad freight companies with operations in Mexico in various tax matters, including ongoing defenses against multimillion dolar tax assessments.
Has advised numerous clients on income tax and value added tax audits and litigations as well as conclusive agreements before the Taxpayers Advocate.
Constantly advises various banks and financial institutions in various tax matters related to investment banking, securities, commercial banking, syndicated loans, asset management and day-to-day operations.
Advised banks, multilaterals and investors in the structuring of infrastructure projects.
Advised investment bankers, offshore firms and investors in matters related to tax compliance, structuring, repatriation and disposition of inbound and outbound investments of companies.
Constantly provides advice on multiple cross border, federal and local tax related issues for real estate investment trusts (REIT), business trusts and investment trusts.
Provided tax advice to the issuer in the first publicly traded Fibra E (energy and infrastructure investment trust). The Fibra E issued 750,000,000 CBFEs Series A for an aggregate amount of MXN 16,387 million (US$862 million) as part of a global offering in Mexico and abroad and 250,000,000 subordinated CBFEs.
Has successfully represented one of the biggest steel multinational Companies in an antidumping procedure initiated against the steel sector in four different Countries.
Provided tax advice in the representation of a government-owned entity in the sale of several assets under trust formerly owned by one of the biggest aviation Companies in Mexico including three aircraft engines.
