Biography
Overview
Kevin is an associate in our Project Development and Finance practice based in the Firm's Tokyo office (not admitted in Japan). Prior to joining White & Case, he was an associate at an international law firm where he worked on domestic and cross-border financing transactions.
Kevin recently completed a secondment with the legal department of Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd., a leading Japanese energy company and the largest natural gas utility in Japan.
Experience
Kevin's experience includes working on matters for:
KEPCO, EDF and Kyushu Electric on the development and financing of the US$3.8bn Lightning offshore transmission line project in Abu Dhabi.
Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd. in connection with, among others,:
- its investment in a joint venture with Danish utility EWII S/I to develop onshore wind and other renewables projects in the Nordics;
- its investment in a joint venture with Thai state-owned utility PTT to build combined cycle gas turbine capabilities for retail customers in Thailand; and
- the divestment of its stake in the MT Falcon project, comprising 5 gas-fired plants with capacity of 2.23 GW in Mexico
Iberdrola, S.A. in connection with its investment in a joint venture with Cosmo Eco Power and Hitz to develop offshore wind projects in Japan.
The sponsor in the development and financing of a 50 MW gas-fired power plant in Afghanistan, which would be the first IPP in Afghanistan and on which IFC is financial advisor.
Saudi Aramco on the development and financing of the US$15.3 billion Refinery and Petrochemical Integrated Development (RAPID) joint venture with Petronas in Malaysia. The financing parties include six export credit agencies, JBIC, NEXI, KEXIM, K-Sure, CESCE and SACE, and 23 commercial banks. This deal won "Asia Pacific Petrochemical Deal of the Year 2019" by PFI Awards, "Asia Pacific Petrochemicals Deal of the Year 2019" by IJGlobal Awards, "Asia-Pacific ECA-backed Finance Deal of the Year 2019" by TXF Awards, "Project Finance Deal of the Year 2020" by IFLR Asia-Pacific Awards, and "Regional Petrochemical Deal of the Year 2020" and "Malaysia Petrochemical Deal of the Year 2020" by The Asset Triple A Asia Infrastructure Awards.
NYK and Mitsui OSK Lines, respectively, in connection with a project to construct, own and operate LNG tankers TPS5 and TPS7 for use on the Freeport LNG project.
Panasonic Corporation on its 20% strategic equity investment in Blue Yonder, a leading U.S. end-to-end supply chain software provider with an estimated enterprise value of US$5.5 billion.
A petroleum refinery operation, as borrower, in connection with financing for purposes of general working capital.*
A borrower in connection with financing of the construction, operation and acquisition of power plants in Latin America.*
