Biography

Overview

Kumar Ravula is a member of the Firm's Intellectual Property group. His practice focuses on IP litigation matters in the federal district courts, the International Trade Commission, and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. His cases have involved a wide array of technologies, including medical devices, semiconductor chips, electronic program guides, voice recognition systems, lithium-ion batteries, and smart fan technologies.

He has experience developing case-winning strategies for complex IP disputes, managing cases on a day-to-day basis to implement those strategies, preparing and arguing case dispositive motions, taking and defending key fact and expert depositions, and preparing and examining witnesses at trial.

Prior to practicing law, Dr. Ravula led an engineering research team at a US national laboratory and worked at a biotech company in Silicon Valley, California. He also obtained a doctorate in Electrical and Computer Engineering.

In addition to his work for corporate clients, Dr. Ravula is active in pro bono matters, working with agencies such as the Chicago Volunteer Legal Services, Equip For Equality, Chicago Lawyers' Committee For Civil Rights, and the National Veterans Legal Services Program, to represent the underserved.
