Biography

Maria is an associate in the Brussels office of White & Case and a member of the Firm’s EU law practice group.

Her practice focuses on European competition law, including merger control, foreign direct investment and antitrust. She has particular experience in cross-border merger control and has been involved in several high-profile and complex transactions requiring international merger control approvals, both in Europe and globally.

Her experience spans a broad range of industries, including private equity, technology, life sciences, energy, financial services, industrials, aerospace and defence, infrastructure and telecommunications.

Prior to joining White & Case, Maria worked in the Brussels office of an international law firm, where she focused on private equity M&A and foreign direct investment transactions, advising on the antitrust and regulatory aspects of global deals.

She also completed a Blue Book traineeship at DG Competition within the European Commission, working on State aid matters, and gained experience through internships in law firms in Cyprus, the UK and Belgium.

Maria holds an LLM in Competition Law from University College London (UCL) and an LLB from the University of Leeds, where she graduated with First Class Honours.

Advising a leading private equity firm on its approx. US$5.3 billion take-private acquisition of a cybersecurity artificial intelligence company, including notification and clearance in over 15 jurisdictions for merger control and FDI.*

Advising a US-listed energy services company on its approx. US$2 billion acquisition of a global drilling business, including multi-jurisdictional merger control and FDI filings across a range of jurisdictions worldwide.*

Advising a global pharmaceutical company on its approx. US$3.2 billion acquisition of a US-listed biotechnology company, including multi-jurisdictional merger control and FDI filings across a range of jurisdictions worldwide.*

Advising a private equity sponsor on its approx. US$700 million acquisition of a commercial aviation solutions business from a listed aerospace and defence company, including multi-jurisdictional merger control and FDI filings across a range of jurisdictions worldwide.*
