Biography
Overview
Mark has extensive experience in the delivery of major projects, particularly in the renewable energy, power, infrastructure and resources sectors.
He regularly acts for corporate and government clients in relation to the development and financing of a wide range of major infrastructure and construction projects. He works throughout Australia and internationally in Asia and Latin America, in the renewable energy, power, infrastructure and resources sectors.
He works together with clients to develop optimal project structures and practical solutions to meet his clients' commercial objectives. He regularly advises on a range of project contracts including engineering, procurement and construction contracts, split 'EPC' contracts, design and construct contracts, connection agreement, equipment supply contracts, operation and maintenance agreements, alliance agreements, power purchase agreements, off-take agreements and joint venture agreements.
Mark is a local partner in the Firm's Energy, Infrastructure, Project and Asset Finance Group, a global team dedicated to providing business and strategic advice to clients regarding financing transactions, which enable the completion of major projects.
Experience
Columboola Solar Farm
Advised Hana Financial Investment on the acquisition, development and project financing of the 162MW Columboola Solar Farm in Queensland, Australia, the first greenfield renewables project to be developed by a Korean investor in a developed overseas market that has been successfully project financed by international financiers.
Winton Solar Farm
Advising FRV on all aspects of the development and project financing of the 106MW Winton Solar Project, located in Victoria, Australia.
Goonumbla Solar Farm
Advising FRV on all aspects of the development and project financing of the 84MW Goonumbla Solar Project, located in New South Wales, Australia.
Sebastopol Solar Farm
Advising FRV on all aspects of the development and project financing of the 90MW Sebastopol Solar Farm in New South Wales, Australia.
Edenvale Solar Farm
Advised the lenders on the project financing of Sojitz and ENEOS' first solar project in Australia, the 204MW Edenvale Solar Farm in Queensland, Australia, one of the largest solar projects to be undertaken by a Japanese company in the country.
Woolooga and West Wyalong Solar Farms
Advised the lenders on the portfolio project financing of two Lightsource bp greenfield solar farm projects in Australia: the 214MW Woolooga Solar Farm in Queensland, Australia, and the 107MW West Wyalong Solar Farm in New South Wales, Australia.
Metro Tunnel Project
Advising Melbourne Metro Rail Authority in relation to the $11 billion Metro Tunnel Project in Victoria.
Nevertire Solar Farm
Advising Elliott Green Power on the acquisition and development of the Nevertire Solar Farm in New South Wales.
Burgos Wind Farm*
Acted for Energy Development Corporation in relation to the US$315 million ECA-backed financing and development of the 150MW Burgos Wind Farm in the Philippines and associated project agreements. This project was awarded 'Asia-Pacific Renewables Deal of the Year' by PFI.
MMG Mining Projects*
Acted for MMG in relation to projects at its Kinsevere mine in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and for Lane Xang Minerals Limited in relation to an upgrade project at its Sepon mine in Laos and power purchase arrangements.
