Martín Basurto is a leading competition and antitrust specialist, recognized for leading complex and high-stakes merger control and competition and antitrust matters. He has led merger analyses across a wide range of sectors, including energy, real estate, transportation, healthcare, financial services, pharmaceuticals, data centers, e-commerce, and agriculture, among others. He also has experience in antitrust investigation proceedings.

Prior to joining the firm, Martín spent seven years at Mexico's Federal Economic Competition Commission (COFECE, later renamed CNA), where he served as Deputy General Director of the Merger Control Unit and, earlier, as an investigator within COFECE's Investigative Authority.
