Matt Steele

Matt is an associate in the Dispute Resolution group in the Firm's London office, where his focus is on international arbitration. His experience includes representing a large multinational company in a joint venture dispute under the LCIA Arbitration Rules and representing an engineering company in a construction dispute under the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules. 

Prior to joining the Dispute Resolution group, Matt worked as an associate on international aircraft finance and leasing transactions, and shipping finance transactions, acting for lessors, export credit agencies and lenders on a range of asset finance transactions. Matt joined the Firm as a trainee in 2017 and qualified in 2019, after having spent six months on secondment in the Firm's Singapore Office.

Representation of aircraft leasing company in connection with a series of their portfolio financings, including the financing of forty aircraft which was awarded  “Aircraft Lessor Debt Deal of the Year” by Global Transport Finance 2018.

Representation of Deutsche Bank in JOLCO financing of a portfolio of twelve aircraft leased by a leading regional aircraft lessor to an African Airline, a Spanish Airline and a Mexican Airline. This deal was awarded "European Deal of the Year" by Airfinance Journal 2018.

Representation of a European export credit agency in the restructuring of the ownership structure for five aircraft leased to an airline in South-East Asia. The transaction involved adding an additional intermediate lessee into the ownership structure for each aircraft in order to comply with a local change in law.
