Biography

Overview

Nataliia Tuzheliak is an Associate in the International Arbitration Group in Paris. Her practice includes investor-state, commercial and construction arbitration. 

Nataliia started her career as a public servant at the Ministry of Interior Affairs of Ukraine. She also taught at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, the leading law school in Ukraine. Prior to joining White & Case, Nataliia worked as a litigator in Ukraine and gained experience in international law and dispute resolution in major international law firms and barristers’ chambers in London and Paris.  

Nataliia is trained in both civil and common law. She is a Chevening Scholar of the UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office and an alumna of the German Federal Foreign Office Training for International Diplomats.  During her LLM studies, Nataliia served as an editor of the University College London Journal of Law and Jurisprudence.  

Nataliia is committed to pro-bono work and currently assists Red Cross in development of the Global Disaster Risk Management Law Index, a new tool designed to help countries in improving domestic laws addressing natural and human-made disasters.

Experience

Representing the Republic of Belarus in an investment treaty claim commenced by Delta Belarus Holding BV under the ICSID Rules in connection with the revocation of Delta Bank's licence.

Representing the Government of Georgia in an ICC arbitration in connection with the construction project in Georgia.

Acted in English High Court proceedings for a Russian businessman and a former Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation in a breach of contract claim related to the refinancing of the agricultural production venture in Russia.*

Assisted in representing the State of Ukraine, the Respondent in an ICSID arbitration initiated by Emergofin BV and Velbay Holdings Ltd under the Netherlands-Ukraine bilateral investment treaty in connection with the dispute related to an aluminium and alumina production company.*

Acted for an Eastern European investor in an LCIA arbitration concerning a uranium mining and exploration project in Mongolia.*
