Philip Davies is Counsel in our global Employment, Compensation & Benefits group based in London.

Philip advises clients on complex employment law issues and has extensive experience of managing international projects across a variety of sectors but focusing mainly on financial and professional services. He has advised a number of retail and investment banks, investment managers, management consultants and major insurers.

His experience covers the full employment life cycle – from hiring, contracts of employment, discrimination concerns, executive compensation and benefits issues, major restructurings, terminations/negotiated exits at board level and drafting and enforcing restrictive covenants.

Philip was on secondment to Bhutan to advise the Kingdom of Bhutan regarding its transition from an absolute monarchy to a constitutional monarchy and its first democratic elections.

Philip was previously a partner in the London office of another global law firm. He also has extensive experience of designing and delivering training to clients.

Philip has been quoted in a number of publications including the New York Times.

Representative experience includes advsing:

  • an investment bank regarding a multi-million pound dispute with a trader, concluding in a successful two-week trial in the High Court.*
  • a global wealth manager regarding the introduction of a firm-wide “Agile” style of working and associated redundancies.*
  • Anglo-American and De Beers on a number of global IT outsourcing contracts involving circa twenty jurisdictions.*
  • a listed financial services organisation regarding whistle-blowing allegations by its CEO.*
  • a private equity firm regarding establishing its UK operations.*
